Privacy Policy

This policy describes how and why I (Ed Bartram, Feldenkrais practitioner at feldenkraissomerset.com)  use your personal information, how I protect your privacy when doing so, and your rights and choices regarding this information.  I promise to respect your personal information which is under my control and to keep it safe. I aim to be clear when I collect your information about what I will do with it.  This policy is effective from 22nd October 2019.

Who I am

I am a Feldenkrais practitioner, member of the Feldenkrais Guild (UK), and teacher of the Feldenkrais Method® in the UK.  This privacy policy relates to my website feldenkraissomerset.com, and accompanying newsletter.

Who you are

You may have given me information in order to receive my monthly e-newsletter.  I may also have received your data via social media or my website (movinglessons.co.uk).  Depending on your settings or the privacy policies for social media and messaging services like Facebook, you might have given me permission to access information from those services, for example when you publicly tag me in an event or photo.

What personal information I collect

We collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information:

  • your name
  • your preferred contact details ( including postal address, telephone number, e-mail address and/or social media identity)
  • how and where I  received your details, eg: by signing up to the mailing list at an event
  • what kind of Feldenkrais you’re interested in, group of individual work, and why you are interested in the method
  • if you attend a group or individual lesson, I may make and keep notes about the lesson and relevant personal details which pertain to that.  These are stored securely, respect your confidentiality, and will not be shared with anyone else.
  • if you subscribe to my newsletter, which is sent through MailChimp, I can track how many times you have opened the newsletter, and if you have clicked on the audio content

When you use my website, I collect your personal information using “cookies” and other tracking methods.  I monitor our website statistics solely for the purposes of improving our website and am not using individual information. I only collect information about the type of device you’re using to access our website or apps and the settings on that device may provide us with information about your device, including what type of device it is, what specific device you have, what operating system you’re using, what your device settings are, and why a crash has happened. Your device manufacturer or operating system provider will have more details about what information your device makes available to us.

How I use your information to tell you about our work

My monthly e-newsletter  includes a short blog and an audio lesson, which is free to use; or longer written pieces related to Feldenkrais.  From time to time, I will also email you with the latest information related to my classes, workshops and individual lessons.   Very occasionally, I may also send you information from partner organisations or practitioners who I work closely with.

I operate an ‘opt-in’ communication policy. This means that I will only send marketing communications to those that have explicitly stated that they are happy for me to do so.

If you don’t want to hear from me, that’s fine, and you can opt out at any time.  You can either email [email protected] or click on the unsubscribe link if the communication is sent by email.

Legal basis for processing

Specific consent

I will process your data on the basis of consent, if you are signed up to my e-newsletter and marketing communications.  That means you will have to opt-in to receive the communications, and can unsubscribe and any time.

How I keep your information safe

I have always taken steps to store data securely, and will continue to do so.   I guarantee that we will only use third parties to process your data (e.g. MailChimp) when those third parties have clear and transparent data policies of their own. No organisation can promise to protect your data 100% due to the nature of today’s technologies; however, I promise I will take every possible step to protect your data to the best of our ability.

Contacting me, access to your information and right of correction

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data that I hold about you. This is also known as a service access request.
